This online learning module will help prevention teams and professionals better understand the
Portfolio of Canadian Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Standards.
The module will provide a basic understanding of the Standards, and help prevention teams, mental health professionals, school administrators, law enforcement personnel and others to plan, select, implement and evaluate prevention initiatives in their communities and schools, and at home.
The course:
Identifies barriers to implementing the Standards;
Clearly lays out how the Standards apply in policy making and day-to-day practice;
Walks users through case studies to provide examples of how the Standards can be put into practice; and
Provides concise explanations of the tools and resources available in the Standards.
This video provides a quick introduction to the Standards and explains their relevance for community organizations, educators, and families. It is a good first step for participants interested in using the online learning module.
