Glenn Brimacombe, MA
Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships and Priorities
Glenn leads the development of CCSA’s strategic partnerships by reaching out to stakeholders in Canada and around the world. His work positions CCSA to advance research and policy on substance use and addictions in Canada.
Before joining CCSA in January 2018, Glenn Brimacombe was the CEO of the Canadian Psychiatric Association for almost five years and before that president and CEO of the Association of Canadian Academic Healthcare Organizations for over a decade. He also worked for the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian Medical Association and Health Canada, and was the inaugural director of health programs at the Conference Board of Canada.
Glenn has spent most of his 30-year career in the healthcare sector working for national health organizations. His focus has been on strategic policy issues related to the management, organization, financing and delivery of health care. He was involved in the negotiation of medical fee structures in several provinces.
As a volunteer, Glenn has served as co-chair of Health Action Lobby, director on the board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and chair of the Science Media Centre of Canada. He holds a BA and an MA in economics, both from the University of Ottawa.
In his spare time, Glenn enjoys time with his family, keeping active through sports and playing music in a local band.
