Biography:
Justine Renard finds the most exciting part of her career is the chance to contribute to improving the mental health of those suffering from addiction and other brain disorders. She joined CCSA in September 2019.
Justine has degrees from three universities in France. She has a bachelor’s degree in physiology from University of Science and Technology of Lille, a master’s degree in psychopharmacology from the University of Bordeaux and a PhD in neuroscience from Paris Descartes University. Her research has helped in understanding the neurobiological effects of cannabis compounds on mental health. It has led to implications for public health policy around the use of both medical and recreational marijuana.
Justine accepted a post-doctoral position at the University of Western Ontario and moved to Canada in July 2013. Since that time, her work has focused on the different effects of cannabis compounds on the adolescent brain and highlighted the link between adolescent cannabis use and schizophrenia.
Justine is an active rock climber who likes all types of challenges. She also enjoys other outdoor activities with her family including hiking, biking and running.
