Karen has extensive experience in project management, research coordination and data analysis.
Biography:
Thinking outside the box and solving problems are of keen interest to Karen Pacheco, making a career in research a natural match. She has served as a research coordinator at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and a research and administrative assistant in the infectious diseases division at the Ottawa Hospital.
Karen took her career in a new direction when she joined CCSA in March 2020. She believes her work at CCSA can help inform the development of policies and programs that can benefit the population.
Karen holds an Bachelor of Science (Honours) in behaviour, genetics and neurobiology from the University of Toronto and an MSc in biology from Carleton University in Ottawa. Through her experience in the lab, she came to believe that project management tools and techniques could be valuable to her research career and decided to earn her Project Management Professional certification.
In her spare time, you’ll find Karen logging hours in the air flying a Cessna 172. More recently, she began working towards earning certification as a registered yoga instructor.
