Melody Rowhani, RN, MPH
Melody’s areas of interest and ongoing learning include the health of incarcerated individuals, and stigma and substance use, as well as community health education through empowering models with diverse populations.
As a registered nurse, Melody Rowhani has had the opportunity to work alongside diverse stakeholders including nurse practitioners, physicians, researchers, and those with lived and living experience, as well as members of the community. Her work as a nurse gives her insight into the issues of addiction. By taking a step back and contributing to policy-level solutions and public education, Melody aims to help address downstream health concerns which is why she joined CCSA in September 2018.
Melody holds a BSc in nursing from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Waterloo. She is also a certified member of the College of Nurses of Ontario. She served as a nurse at the Ottawa General Hospital. She also acted as a regional coordinator for health promotion for Correctional Services Canada. While at Correctional Services, she contributed to the design and implementation of a health peer program in the federal prisons in Ontario.
In her free time, Melody enjoys facilitating a youth empowerment program across the city and participating in hot yoga.
