Proportions of Crimes Associated with Alcohol and other Drugs in Canada

This publication has been archived on the CCSA website and was current when it was published. It is available for reference or research purposes.

Examines the proportion of crimes associated with alcohol and other drugs in Canada by charting the relationship between psychoactive substance use and crime in three populations: male federal inmates, male provincial inmates and individuals arrested for a crime. Research from a number of countries indicates a strong association between the use of alcohol and other drugs and the commission of crimes.
