About Jeffrey

Biography

Jeff Bourne got involved in substance use health work after his own lived experience with a substance use disorder. He believes that harm reduction is a great pathway to wellness for people in similar situations.

Jeff feels motivated by seeing people with lived and living experience with substance use disorders take control of their lives and reconnect with their family. He is inspired by messages of gratitude and encouragement.

As executive director of the peer-led addiction recovery centre U-Turn, Jeff’s main role is helping other people. He admits that he doesn’t always prioritize time to manage his own grief, loss or trauma though. However, when he feels it’s necessary, he turns to a close clergy member to debrief on any issues he’s experiencing.

Most people may be surprised to know that Jeff also has a diploma in ministry and theology!
