Denna Berg, MPP
Public Policy Advisor
Areas of Expertise:
Denna’s areas of expertise include public policy, governance, stakeholder engagement and understanding emerging issues.
Biography:
Denna Berg knows the harms policies on substance use and addiction can have on individuals if the policies are not based on evidence. She joined CCSA in March 2021 to help foster understanding and create awareness of substance use issues. She has a passion for using an informed perspective, including principles of equity, to hold governance responsible.
Believing that communities of any size can produce change, Denna organized a community around a garden connected to an adult learning centre, a food bank and a retirement home. The garden provided tangible work experience for the students, fresh produce for the food bank and organized activities for the retirees.
Before CCSA, Denna served as a policy advisor for the Ontario College of Pharmacists and as a senior policy and strategic communications advisor in the office of the Ontario Deputy Minister of Energy. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, University of Toronto, and a BA in environmental studies from the University of Toronto, and was a CanStudyUS Fellow at the Ryerson Leadership Lab.
In her free time, Denna can be found surrounded by coffee, croissants and a random assortment of books.
