Evaluates best practices in addressing problematic substance use in the criminal justice system to determine how best to support those in correctional institutions in their transition from the institution to the community. The scan shows that services should address other issues in tandem with problematic substance use (e.g., mental health, past trauma), reduce barriers to treatment participation, educate to eliminate stigma, and increase collaboration among criminal justice and treatment practitioners.
