2024 CCSA’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day Statement
Ottawa, September 27, 2024 — As we commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day and as an ally, the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction strives to work with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples to dismantle systemic discrimination in Canada. We hear and respect the need for distinction-based approaches, self-determination and capacity building in education and the workforce, and community ownership of services. We promote these goals through engagement, collaboration and partnerships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit national and regional organizations, service providers and communities.
