9th International Research Conference on Adolescents and Adults with FASD

Date : 22 avril 2020 - 25 avril 2020
Lieu : The Hyatt Regency Vancouver, 655 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6C 2R7 Canada

Review Respond and Relate: Integrating Research, Policy and Practice Around the World

Although there have been thousands of published articles on FASD, there still remains limited research specifically on adolescents and adults with FASD. As individuals diagnosed with FASD continue to age, the “need to know” across a broad spectrum of areas continues to be critically important for identifying clinically relevant research questions and directions.

Continuing on the work of eight previous conferences, there remains a clear need to examine relevant global research, programs and policies. What can we learn from practice based evidence? What does existing or emerging research tell us? Are the results transferable from country to country and/or from laboratory to real life? Are there clinical implications of results from any of these areas of which we should be aware? What are the changes in our thinking, practice and directions that will be required to improve outcomes? What are the implications for the future? This interactive conference will provide an opportunity to be at the forefront of addressing these relevant global issues.

"Changing Practice, Changing Policy" BC Substance Use Conference 2020

Date : 4 juin 2020 - 6 juin 2020
Lieu : JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel, 39 Smithe Street, Vancouver

We are in the midst of a longstanding crisis of drug-related harms. The scope of this crisis has only become wider and the devastation more acute in recent years, notably sparking the declaration of a public health emergency in 2016. One thing that has become obvious in the midst of this crisis is that it will take the ongoing and effective collaboration of a variety of stakeholders in order to bring about urgently needed changes across the entire continuum of care.

We welcome everyone including addiction medicine clinicians, other health care providers, researchers, people with lived experience, families impacted by substance use, and policymakers — from all across the province and beyond — we will strategize ways that we can finally bring about effective policies, interventions, and solutions. Also you will have ample time to connect and learn from new colleagues, as well as cement relationships with familiar friends and allies from all across our province and country.

Come to share ideas, learn from others, build new paradigms for practice, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the public health and health care systems.

2020 NIDA International Forum

Date : 19 juin 2020 - 22 juin 2020
Lieu : Hollywood, Florida

The NIDA International Forum fosters international cooperative research and the exchange of scientific information by drug abuse researchers. Held each June in conjunction with the annual scientific meeting of the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD), the Forum highlights the range and quality of drug abuse and addiction research conducted around the world.

The Forum features a research symposium, a poster session, and network-building activities highlighting NIDA-supported and other international research on drug abuse. This unique scientific meeting allows participants to network with talented colleagues, learn about drug abuse research and policy issues in other countries, and discuss NIDA-supported fellowships and other programs that can support international collaborations.

For the 2020 meeting, abstracts will be given priority that address any aspect of cannabis or cannabinoids, including but not limited to routes of administration, prevalence, neurobiology, drugged driving, potential therapeutic benefits, harms, and policy analyses. Other topics of interest include linkages between HIV/AIDS and drug use, smoking during pregnancy, and use, abuse, or addiction to amphetamine-type stimulants, inhalants, new psychoactive substances, or opioids.

A limited number of NIDA International Forum Travel Awards will be available for individuals whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the poster session.

Abstract submissions and travel award requests are due by January 6, 2020.
